Composite electrolyte membranes for high temperature CO2 separation
Amembrane device that can selectively separate CO2 at temperatures exceeding 600 ◦C has been demonstrated. The membrane can be made from a composite material made of a molten carbonate electrolyte eceived in revised form 24 October 2010 ccepted 28 October 2010 vailable online 3 November 2010
متن کامل2-step plasma-enhanced CVD for low-temperature fabrication of silica membranes with high gas-separation performance.
Amorphous SiO(2) membranes were prepared via a 2-step plasma-enhanced CVD (PECVD) technique at room temperature on porous TiO(2)/Al(2)O(3) substrates. SiO(2) membranes showed molecular sieving properties with a high separation factor for He/N(2) and He/H(2), and high thermal stability, indicating the successful preparation of high-performance membranes at low temperatures.
متن کاملMolecular Sieve Silica Membranes For H2/CO Separation
Membranes have been used for gas separation for quite some time but have seen major growth during the 90’s [1]. For many industrial applications involving gas streams, it is important that membranes resist high temperatures and corrosive environments. As in Table 1, organic membranes are not heat resistant at high temperatures while zeolite membranes have pore sizes too large to separate gases ...
متن کاملHydrothermal Stability of Modified Silica Membranes for Gas Separation
The hydrothermal stability of molecular sieve silica (MSS) membranes is an area of increasing research interest, in particular for applications such as membrane reactors and membrane gas separation of process streams containing hot steam. In these applications, gas streams are likely to contain water vapor, which reacts with the hydrophilic sites in the silica thin films resulting in chemical a...
متن کاملHigh-temperature polybenzimidazole-based membranes
Polybenzimidazole (PBI)-based high-temperature proton exchange membranes (PEMs) offer many advantages that aid in a simplified fuel cell system design. Such benefits include high resistance to fuel impurities (most notably carbon monoxide), fast electrode kinetics, and simplified water and thermal management due to operational temperatures above 120 ◦C.[1] As a result of its intrinsic physicoch...
